Capturing Life’s Core Memories

ree

Lindsay Hussey is the owner of Core Memory Videography, based in Waterloo Region. Her passion for storytelling began early. As a child, she wrote in notebooks and filmed movies with friends. At ten, she saved up for her first video camera. She studied Theatre and Journalism, sharpening her skills in storytelling. After getting married and having kids, she wanted to capture life’s big moments for others in a cinematic way.

Balancing parenting and business aren’t easy. Lindsay admits the hardest part is "Mom guilt", feeling torn between work and family time. She schedules carefully to keep both roles separate. Her kids motivate her to build a business they’ll be proud of.

One standout project was filming her cousin Mel’s wedding in the Dominican Republic. As both a bridesmaid and videographer, she had to hand off her camera at times. The final video moved strangers online, making them cry happy tears. For wedding shoots, Lindsay keeps things organic. She meets with couples beforehand to discuss their vision but lets the day’s emotions guide her. The biggest challenge? Picking the perfect song and editing hours of footage into a five-minute highlight reel.

Building client relationships is key. Lindsay stays genuine, prioritizing their happiness over profit. She sees her work as an honor, capturing vulnerable, meaningful moments. Staying connected on social media (@corememoryvideo) helps clients see her as a friend, not just a vendor.

Exciting projects are ahead. The 2025 wedding season includes a Mexico destination wedding and a partnership with Elli Bel Photography for photo/video packages.

Her advice for aspiring videographers? Just start. The market is competitive, but talent stands out. Lindsay’s first wedding in 2015 was far from perfect, but practice and passion led to growth. "If you love what you do, it won’t feel like work," she says.
